En 1965 Edie Sedgwick rencontre Andy Warhol et est rapidement devenue sa « Warhol Superstar » préférée, vedette dans beaucoup de ses films underground dont Poor Little Rich Girl, Vinyl, Beauty #2 et Chelsea Girls. C’est durant cette période que Sedgwick a commencé à devenir toxicomane en particulier aux amphétamines. Elle est nommée « Warhol’s Girl » de l’année en 1965 où elle l’a accompagné partout sur la scène sociale de New York.

Pendant cette période ils s’habilleront souvent avec les même vêtements, Sedgwick s’est fréquemment appelé Mme Warhol. L’amitié n’a pas duré au delà de 1966 où Warhol et Sedgwick ont eu une discussion acrimonieuse en public. Sedgwick est décédée en novembre 1971 d’un empoisonnement de barbiturique en combinaisons avec l’alcool. Sa mort a été classée en surdosage de drogue/suicide.

In 1965 Edie Sedgwick met Andy Warhol and quickly became his favorite « Warhol superstar », featuring in many of his underground films including Poor Little Rich Girl, Vinyl, Beauty #2, and Chelsea Girls. It was during this period that Sedgwick began using drugs, particularly amphetamines. She became Warhol’s Girl of the Year during 1965 when she accompanied him everywhere in the New York social scene.

During this period the pair would often dress alike, and Sedgwick frequently called herself Mrs. Warhol. The friendship did not last beyond 1966 when Warhol and Sedgwick made an acrimonious public split. Sedgwick died in November 1971 from a barbiturate poisoning in combination with alcohol. Her death was ruled a suicide/drug overdose.
