Merde d’Artiste Piero Manzoni 1933-1963 artiste italien, pionnier de l’Arte Povera. Son père possédait une fabrique de viandes en conserves nommée « Manzotini ». Un jour, le père et le fils se disputent et l’industriel lance : « Tu es un artiste de merde ! ». Manzoni prend son père au mot et défèque dans des boites (90 au total) . il déposa trente grammes d’excrément par boîte pour vendre par la suite ces boîtes au prix de trente grammes d’or selon la valeur du cours de l’or sur lesquelles fut inscrit “merde d’artiste” en différentes langues.

Ces boîtes furent toutes vendues et se retrouvent maintenant dans diverses collections d’art dans le monde entier et se négocient à un prix élevé, à l’exception toutefois de quelques-unes qui explosèrent probablement à cause de la corrosion de la boîte et de la pression du gaz… Depuis sa création, cette série a été disséminée dans le monde entier. Aujourd’hui, la valeur d’une boîte est d’environ 30 500€ ( 25 000 à 35 000 US$).

These boxes all were now sold and are found in various collections of art in the whole world and are negotiated at a high price, except however for some which probably exploded because of the corrosion of the box and the pressure of gas… Since its creation, this series was disseminated in the whole world. Today, the value of a box is approximately 30.500 € (25.000 to 35.000 US$).
